From there make sure you use Google contacts and Google calendars and set them to your default app. The standard contacts and calendars app that come with the phone have sync issues with the Outlook app. I currently set this for all my android users. Standards are just so much higher. An email app from 2012 would get sub 1 star on Google play. Okay, found a solution that worked for me. in Gmail: go to edit account. find mail.me.com, edit it to imap.mail.me.com. save and quit, try (on one of my devices, I had to force synchronisation in general settings > account.
